TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - FAQs
Question 1: Is it necessary to complete TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment if I already have obtained a teaching degree at a level higher than the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment?
To work as a trainer and assessor in the VET sector you must obtain the Cert IV Training and Assessment.
If you require Cert IV in Training and Assessment and you already have extensive experience in VET (Vocational Education and Training), you can apply for RPL (recognition of prior learning) for previous studies/qualifications and experience.
You can complete Cert IV Training and Assessment face to face, online distance or blended with the International Teacher Training Academy (Australia). Teachers at the Academy will assess your prior experience and qualifications and give direction on the study required to complete the Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
Question 2: Does the TAE40110 qualification equate to the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or would I have to upgrade?
The TAE40110 does not equate to TAE40116 Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment, however, it is possible to upgrade to the TAE40116 Cert 4 Training and Assessment via a combination of recognition/equivalence and gap training.
The International Teacher Training Academy (Australia) has developed a streamlined upgrade course for Cert 4 Training and Assessment which consists of gap training in TAEASS401 and TAEASS403. Both of these units are deemed not equivalent to the superseded units. TAEASS502 Design and Develop Assessment Tools is now a core unit in TAE40116 Certificate IV Training and Assessment. This unit can be completed via RPL or gap training. If you have TAEASS502B as part of your TAE40110 qualification you can receive a credit transfer for this unit as it is deemed equivalent. TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills is a core unit in TAE40116 Cert 4 Training and Assessment. This unit can also be completed via distance delivery or RPL. If you have TAELLN401 as part of your TAE40110 Certificate IV Training and Assessment you can receive a credit transfer as this unit is deemed equivalent.
Question 3: What are the main career opportunities after completing the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment?
On completion of the Certificate IV Training and Assessment a participant would have developed the skills and knowledge to competently fill the role of a trainer and assessor within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.
Note: In addition to the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, a trainer and assessor would also be expected to have the relevant VET industry qualification and experience.
Question 3:What are the main career opportunities after completing the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment?
On completion of the Certificate IV Training a participant would have developed the skills and knowledge to competently fill the role of a trainer and assessor within the Vocational Education and Training sector (VET).
Note: In addition to the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, a potential teacher would also be expected to have the necessary relevant VET industry qualification and experience.
Question 4: How long would it take to complete the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Online/Distance?
The International Teacher Training Academy (ITTA) delivers Training and Assessment Courses via quality distance delivery/online. The expected time for a participant to complete the Certificate IV course, depending on prior skills and knowledge is 6 -12 months allowing for a minimum of 10 to 20 hours study per week.
Question 5: What is the delivery mode for TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment?
The International Teacher Training Academy (ITTA) delivers Training and Assessment via face to face workshops, quality distance delivery/online, RPL and upgrade workshops. The academy course has been written by experienced VET practitioners. The course has been designed and streamlined to be practical with assessment tasks that are relevant to the role of a trainer and assessor. Question 6: What do I need to teach TAE40116 Certificate IV in TAE (Training and Assessment)?
To teach Cert IV TAE (TAE40116) you will need the following:
TAE40110 Certificate IV in TAE or TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus one of the following – TAE50111 Diploma of VET (Vocational Education and Training) or the equivalent TAE50116 Diploma of VET, TAE50211 Diploma of Training Design and Development or the equivalent TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development or a higher level qualification in Adult Education.
Question 7: What do I need to do to upgrade to TAE40116 Cert IV Training and Assessment?
Upgrades will vary depending on the units you have already completed in TAE40110. ITTA will map the units you have completed in TAE40110 and determine any gap training required.
