  • Hi everyone, my name is Sam. I’m a paramedic with NSW Ambulance working in the Lower Clarence. I’m passionate about education and developing others in the job. We often work closely with trainee paramedics and interns, so I’m hoping this course will help me better support and mentor them. I’m also interested in possibly moving into an education role in the future.

Here is a website I find helpful for professional expectations of paramedics: https://www.paramedicineboard.gov.au/Professional-standards/Professional-capabilities-for-registered-paramedics.aspx

  • Kellie

Hi, my name is Kellie, I am a paramedic for NSW Ambulance. I’ve decided to partake in this course because I think it will help with career progression. We are often paired with trainees and have never been given education as to how to train or mentor anyone. I thought this could not only help me, but my trainees as well. One of the websites that has helped outlined the professional standards that we need to reach is the AHPRA website. https://www.paramedicineboard.gov.au/Professional-standards/Professional-capabilities-for-registered-paramedics.aspx

  • Hey everyone. My name is Chris and I currently work for NSW Ambulance as a Paramedic in the Northern Rivers. A key part of my role is the training and mentoring of trainee paramedics or interns, hence the reason that I have undertaken this course. If you would like to know more about the role of a paramedic and the professional standards required, please follow this link: https://www.paramedicineboard.gov.au/Professional-standards/Professional-capabilities-for-registered-paramedics.aspx

  • Hello,

I am a registered paramedic working on road in Sydney for NSW Ambulance. I came into the profession as a mature aged student, returning to university during the pandemic years. Before this time, I had held a number of positions delivering large-scale public events for the community across Australia.

Paramedicine is an ever-expanding field of pre-hospital healthcare and medicine. It is exciting to be part of this journey. I am very interested in continued education, training, mentorship, and preceptorship. The participation in such areas is a ‘Professional Capability for Registered Paramedics’, as set by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA). Therefore, undertaking this Cert IV in Training and Assessment seems like a fitting qualification to enable me to provide the best form of training and education for my own professional development and for those I mentor and train.

You can check out the other professional standards for paramedics in Australia here: https://www.paramedicineboard.gov.au/Professional-standards/Professional-capabilities-for-registered-paramedics.aspx
