Hello all,
My background is in Community welfare and Human services. Primarily Aged care, Child protection and I’m currently self employed in the disability sector supporting clients living with disabilities, under the NDIS. By enrolling in the TAE I’m looking to learn how to educate and expand my opportunities.
My Name is Trin Hewitson and I work in outdoor education and in the Corrective Services industry.
In the outdoor education industry I specialise in ski touring/splitboarding/hiking and mountain biking. I provide tours and clinics to adults and children. I provide backcountry tours and clinics for Thredbo Ski Resort and I am looking to be able teach new and upcoming guides in industry. I also want to be able to teach mountain biking guiding programs.
I also work in NSW Corrective Services as an Correctional Officer and would one day love to be able to combine the two and provide young offenders and at-risk kids outdoor education programs.
A website I use a lot would be Windy.com. It provides a detailed map with many weather overlays that make it easy to digest, particularly wind direction. It has numerous weather forecasting models meaning you can make a more informed assessment on the weather forecast. It also has a very easy to read topographic map system.
My name is Ben Lynch and I am studying to further my development as a trainer and assessor with the NSW SES and also Fire & Rescue NSW. My experience in training and assessing so far have been at enterprise level only and have always required a lead assessor to sign off on our assessments. Training I have delivered ranges from chainsaw operations, response driving, flood rescue, etc.
While the link I provide will not be available to the general public and non-NSWSES I use the website to assist me in organising courses and assessments. It provides me access to training resource kits which includes training plans and assessment scenarios. This link also contains the NSW SES training manual which is a useful reference.
