BSB50420 – Diploma of Leadership and Management – Government Subsidised (Smart and Skilled)

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government under the NSW Smart and Skilled initiative.

A manager’s most important, and most difficult job is to manage people – others and self. You must lead, mentor, motivate, inspire, encourage, discipline and evaluate employees. As a manager you have the authority to sanction or restrict most aspects of the working day of your employees. This places you in a position of power and responsibility. Managing people is not simple or easy, however, it can be done successfully and can be a very rewarding experience. Remember that management, like any other skill, is something that you can improve with reflection, study and practice. This page provides details on the BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership & Management offered by ITTA.

“Hi Kerry, Thanks for the feedback. I am actually using a lot of the skills and knowledge from this course in a variety of ways, it has been really helpful. The role I took on earlier this year has seen me use everything I have learned on both the TAE and this Leadership and Management course. It has me considering a career change. Thanks and all the best.” Jacqui

“I have found the Academy to be most supportive and helpful in assisting me to gain this qualification. I would highly recommend both the International Teacher Training Academy and the Diploma of Leadership and Management to Aboriginal managers/supervisors/coordinators who are looking to improve their management and leadership skills.” Janelle Brown – Gurehlgam.

“Hi Kerry, Thank you for flexibility with those dates, I do appreciate it. Most of us are under a rather heavy workload and like many others I was approaching this with dread and anticipated racing through it at a hundred miles an hour just to knock it over. But for the record found it an absolutely fantastic unit. Well written, and with assessments that were equally well-written and fair. It’s learning that I really enjoyed and found valuable – so thank you! I’ve already snaffled a copy of Goleman from a local op shop, and it’s on my to-read list, so am looking forward to continuing the journey.” Trav.

“Hi Kerry, Thank you for your email. I am so pleased to have completed my EI unit. I found it very interesting and helpful. Thank you so much for your patience with me as well as for your feedback and thoughts on my assessments. I really appreciate all your thoughtfulness. Thank you also for your recommendations for the books. I will read them as I think this is such a vital subject in the world we live in today, and yet, it is so underutilised in the work environment. Thanks again for all your help Kerry! Have a great day!” Kind Regards, Steve.

“Kerry, This activity has given me some insights about my unknown self and some confidence of my intellectual capabilities. My colleagues have portrayed me to be smart and intelligent. I’m a modest person and do not believe in self-praise. Most of the time I underestimate my intelligence and capabilities. Due to my modesty I am self-conscious and at times feel tense to attempt new tasks. Now I have confidence in my ability and intelligence to move forward in my life and career. I know I am a friendly and helpful person. I normally do not wait for others to seek help from me but am always willing to offer help to others. Thank you so much.” KN

9/7/2019 “I have already recommended this course to everyone I speak to in the community and at my workplace. The course and content was well delivered by ITTA. My teacher Kerry, is supportive and I could understand her processes when she spoke. I was not a studying person and I didn’t like school. This course has changed me and I am now looking to other studies. I learned, to be a good leader, you need this course and a good leader to teach you.”

19/10/20 “Dear Kerry, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, you have been an amazing tutor and friend at times. I hope life treats you well and you continue to be there for people like me, you are an inspiration!!!” KA

8/9/21  I’ve really enjoyed the course and wouldn’t have been able to do it without the assistance of the wonderful Kerry!!  LD

14/10/21  “Hi Kerry and Carolyn.  Just a quick message to say a big thank you for giving me (and our cohort) the opportunity to study with you and ITTA. Personally, I have really, really enjoyed the course, its content and learning from and working with Kerry over the past 12 months. I’ve been able to link and apply almost all of my current work to the module content, which has been so beneficial. I’ve also realised that I actually know more than I think I do about leadership and management!”  CL

14/10/21  “Dear Kerry!! You have been such an incredible mentor friend and guide to us all during these difficult times.  Throughout the course you have been an absolute life saver and so very kind and patient.”  EG

28/3/22 “Dear Kerry. I’d like to sincerely thank you so much for your time, advice, and most of all patience with me throughout the course. I have certainly come to appreciate the depth of knowledge and understanding of leadership and the associated roles it has because of this course. I too have taken away new understandings and skills, some of which I have applied and brought back to the team here at school, who have always been keen to here back about my experiences.” AC (Deputy Principal)

18/8/22: Hello Kerry. Thanks for completing all awesome lessons and marking the assessments. It was an enjoyable few months with such a great group. CK

22/8/22 “Unforeseen contingencies were popping up all the time at Qantas and we needed to take one day at a time as lockdowns were still occurring intermittently. In order for us to remain adaptable, we needed an understanding facilitator – Kerry was extremely flexible, encouraging in her approach to our situation. She was my ‘litmus test’, as I needed assurance that I was always on the right track with my understanding of the information delivered and my assessment tasks. For the Qantas staff, the Diploma and Kerry were probably the one ‘constant’ (rock) in our lives.” DB

27/9/22 “Hi Kerry, Many thanks for your feedback. It’s the first time I have received comments that give me an indication of where I stand with the work I am doing.” AM
