I would like to invite industry input into the Training and Assessment Strategy that we have developed for TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Your input and feedback is extremely important to us as our primary focus is to offer training and assessment that is relevant an d meets the needs of industry. Our current training and assessment strategy for TAE40116 Certificate I V in Training and Assessment has been developed based on industry input and learner feedback.
Although we are receiving positive feedback from industry and learners we would like to again provide you with the opportunity to provide constructive feedback so that we can continuously improve the way we deliver our training and assessment.
Firstly, I will provide some background and an overview of our original training and assessment strategy and our revised strategy. I will ask some key questions.
Strategy 1: Face-to- face workshops: The original delivery strategy was as follows.
Course to be conducted over a 12-month period.
Units | Face-to-face component | Self-directed learning outside of workshops (includes individual study, research and learning activities) | Assessment Tasks |
TAEDES402 Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs TAEDES401 Design and develop learning programs |
8 x 6 hr workshops | 6 hrs per week (8 weeks) | 6 hrs per week (8 weeks) |
TAEDEL401 Plan, organise and deliver group-based learning TAEDEL402 Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace BSBCMM401 Make a presentation |
16 x 6 hr workshops | 6 hrs per week (16 weeks) | 6 hrs per week (16 weeks) |
TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills | 4 x 6 hr workshops | 6 hrs per week (4 weeks) | 6 hrs per week (4 weeks) |
TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes TAEASS402 Assess competence TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools |
12 x 6 hr workshops | 6 hrs per week (12 weeks) | 6 hrs per week (12 weeks) |
The Volume of learning for Strategy 1 (above) totals to a minimum of 720 hours. Depending on the target group, the face-to-face workshop hours could increase to 12 hpw x 40 weeks or decrease to 4 hpw x 40 weeks.
Stakeholder Feedback (Industry and Learners)
Feedback received indicated that the timeframe of 40 weeks was too long as industry often required potential trainers and assessors to obtain the qualification within a 6-month timeframe. The amount of face-to-face hours were too impactive on organisations as the “down time” of staff undertaking the course was not feasible.
Although we offered a Distance Delivery strategy with 1:1 mentored support, this strategy was not suitable for those needing to complete the course in a shorter timeframe. (Note: Industry Consultation and Engagement will be sought for this strategy separately).
Based on feedback gathered the face-to-face workshop strategy was changed to meet the needs of industry.
Please provide your feedback on the following strategy.
