Feedback – do we seek it, what do we do when we get it?
I was reflecting on element 3.1 and 3.2 for the Diploma of Vet unit – Maintain and Enhance Professional Practice. I wondered how many facilitators actually gather feedback from other facilitators and also provide them with constructive feedback. The performance criteria directs candidates to, “observe faciliators in facilitation practice and provide them constructive feedback” and “invite peers to observe and provide constructive feedback on own faciliation practices”. It is not always easy to give and receive feedback, especially to and from our peers. Without it, can we really know how successful we are? Are we limiting our teaching performance and our peers by not gathering feedback from each other?
