Skilling For Recovery – Fee-Free Training
On 16 September 2020, the Premier of NSW, the NSW Treasurer and the Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education jointly announced the Skilling for Recovery initiative to deliver Job Trainer funding in NSW.
Skilling for Recovery offers additional fee-free training places for eligible students.
Skilling for Recovery will support those most affected by current economic conditions to gain skills in priority and growth industry areas, so they can take advantage of future job opportunities as the economy recovers from the effects of COVID-19.
Eligibility for Skilling for Recovery Fee-Free Training
The fee-free qualification training under Skilling for Recover Is available to those who:
- live or work in NSW
- are aged 15 years or older
- have left school
- are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
To be eligible you must also meet one of the following criteria:
- unemployed (whether in receipt of Commonwealth benefits or not): or
- at risk of unemployment (as specified by the Department); or
- 17 – 24 years of age (regardless of employment status)
Note: Aboriginal students and students with a disability, fee-free scholarship students and refugees and asylum seekers) will continue to access fee-free training for qualifications under Smart and Skilled a usual.
Skilling For Recovery - Courses Offered
BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management
The Leadership and Management Diploma reflects the roles of individuals who are engaged to manage the work of others or to add value to or review management practices.
TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training
This qualification reflects the roles of experienced practitioners delivering training and assessment services usually within Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) within the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.
TAE502116 Diploma of Training Design and Development
This qualification reflects the roles of training developers and instructional designers who are responsible for analysing training needs and designing training solutions and products to meet workplace capability requirements, and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs.
